The game-keeper Johann bad fallen into the trap, Rudolf Rassendyll had laid for him. In the words of Fritz, he was not at all sorry to find himself trapped. They shall swim and rise to the other side of the moat, where men shall pull them out with the help of ropes, which they will keep ready. The Duke shall join them and they will come back to the castle to defeat the enemies.
They looked around at one another in horror and bafflement at the cruelty and cunning of the plan. It was such a dangerous plan that they could not dream to get the king alive from the hands of Black Michael. This was the reason that Colonel Sapt said;
